What's Inflating Your Spare Tire?

Wondering how to lose that spare tire around your waistline? Most things are obvious; the late night chocolate while you watch your shows, the fries at lunch instead of a side salad, the one too many drinks on the weekends. But if you are not committing these obvious food crimes, the reason for that spare tire is likely your lack of water intake.

Believe it or not, not drinking enough water can actually cause you to retain more water around your waistline, causing that “spare tire” effect. As the body loses fluids via dehydration, it makes up for that loss by conserving all the fluids it has left, usually around your waistline.

Water also helps your liver convert fat into useable energy. By not drinking enough water, your kidneys can become overwhelmed with concentrated fluids, which pushes the extra workload to your liver. As a result, the liver becomes overloaded as well, and it holds on to the extra fat that it would’ve routinely burned off if you’d simply had more water in your system.

We all know water is critical for our bodies to function at an optimal level, so if you struggle to get rid of that spare tire, check yourself on what you’re eating first, and then check your water intake. By being regimented in water intake all week, especially during hotter days, you will finally rid yourself of that spare.
